I can't recall his name, but I remember what he did
When he took the time to talk with me when I was just a kid
He'd just come off the stage, sweat clinging to his hair

Well he looked kind of old, with nothin' to say
But he listened and watched as the world passed his way
And I often would see him as he sat on his own
But he never looked lonely, 'though always alone
And I felt kind of strange, watchin' him sip his tea
And I sensed he knew somethin' that was missin' in me
So I searched for the courage to just say "Hello"
And he smiled and said "Son, there's somethin' you need to know".
And he said...

When you open your heart and you let your love flow

A house and some kids, a reason for life
But time took them all, I was down for a while
But not down and out, that's not my style.
